The Great War t is a turning point in the history of humanity. Initially, it was a “local” war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, but in a short period of time it acquired the features of a European and then a world conflict. Many aspects signaled that what was happening was acquiring different traits compared to past conflicts and made the commitment that it would require and the destiny of those who would choose to take part in it uncertain. A total war, a mass conflict, “the most democratic war in history”: we can definitely consider it as a “periodizing” event with consequences that last until our days, so that even today it attracts great attention from scholars. The paper’s aim is to contribute to cast new light on some aspects of the war, putting into dialogue different scientific perspectives on the conflict.

Abstract
The Great War t is a turning point in the history of humanity. Initially, it was a “local” war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, but in a short period of time it acquired the features of a European and then a world conflict. Many aspects signaled that what was happening was acquiring different traits compared to past conflicts and made the commitment that it would require and the destiny of those who would choose to take part in it uncertain. A total war, a mass conflict, “the most democratic war in history”: we can definitely consider it as a “periodizing” event with consequences that last until our days, so that even today it attracts great attention from scholars. The paper’s aim is to contribute to cast new light on some aspects of the war, putting into dialogue different scientific perspectives on the conflict.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
