Myocarditis in athlete and myocardial bridge: An innocent bystander?

Myocarditis is a bacterial or viral inflammatory disease,often unnoticed or misdiagnosed. Athletes withmyocarditis must stop practicing their activity sinceInternational medical Literature described somecases of sudden death. In the present report, wedescribe a case of an asymptomatic, apparentlyhealthy, competitive athletes, who was diagnosed amyocarditis and as incidental finding a myocardialbridging. We focused the attention on the importance ofanamnesis, electrocardiogram and athletes’ entouragefor the diagnosis of such insidious pathologies andwe evaluated the follow up, focusing the attention onelectrocardiogram changes as well as on restitution adintegrum and prognosis, especially for the athletes.
