BACKGROUND: In the literature, the relationships between the constitutional biotype endomorphic, mesomorphicand ectomorphic and the hormone concentrations of testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and cortisol at rest andafter exercise resistance training in active persons and athletes seem not to have been analyzed analytically. The aimis to examine the relationship between the constitutional biotype and the aforementioned hormone concentrations atrest and after exercise against resistance at exhaustion and on speed variations.METHODS: The study lasted approximately one month, with seven meetings in total, two familiarizations and oneanalysis tip: familiarization 1 (first day), familiarization 2 (second day) Test 1RM, Training 1, Training 2, Training 3,final protocol. Ten active male students aged between 18 and 30 who had a minimum of 3 years’ experience in resistancetraining were enrolled.RESULTS: Lean-mass-adjusted cortisol is highest in the mesomorph group at time Post30. Lean-mass-adjusted DHT ishighest in the endomorph group at basal time and tends to decrease at Post, Post15 and Post30 times becoming lowerat these times than in the mesomorph group. Lean-mass-adjusted testosterone is higher in the mesomorph group atall times than in the endomorph group; in both groups there is a linear decrease in testosterone levels at all times.CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of the data obtained, we can therefore hypothesize that constitutional biotypes mayrespond to training, particularly in resistance training, in different forms under the physiological, hormonal and probablyunder the psychological aspect.
